Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the countertop material you are buying.

Visual Appearance

Silestone Quartz Surfaces

  • Silestone quartz surfaces are composed of natural materials. As such these materials are subject to slight variances in color, shade and particle structure.
  • Silestone is available in over 45 colors, and many Silestone colors are also offered in outlet covers, cabinet knobs, and tile.
  • Most Silestone colors are available in polished finish, and some Silestone colors are also available in the Leather finish, which is a less shiny more textured finish similar to a matte finish.

Seams

Silestone Quartz Surfaces

  • Silestone installations may necessitate that seams be used to achieve the ordered countertop project from one or more slabs or pieces. The layout of your kitchen and other factors including but not limited to transportability will determine the number and location of seams.
  • Seams will be visible—Silestone seams are similar to seams in a granite install however due to the fact that Silestone has greater color consistency between different sheets than granite the seams can be less conspicuous.
  • Seams will be at the discretion of the measurer or measure team performing the on-site measurement on behalf of e-counters.com.

Overhang

Silestone Quartz Surfaces

  • The maximum overhang that Silestone countertops can extend beyond the cabinetry or supporting structure is 8-12” depending on the specific configuration.
  • Your measurer will advise you at the time of the measurement whether supports will be needed and what you will need to have in place before the time of the installation appointment.

Decking

Silestone Quartz Surfaces

  • Silestone countertops do not necessarily need to have a plywood substrate, but in some specific cases it may be required or highly recommended. Projects located in areas that experience structural movement or which may require a laminated edge are examples of situations where plywood decking would be required or recommended.
  • Details such as size and material used for plywood substrate to be provided by the customer can be discussed with the measurer during the on-site measure appointment.

Care and Maintenance

Silestone Quartz Surfaces

  • Silestone can be cleaned with soap and water or common household cleaners. Even Windex will work to clean Silestone countertops.
  • Rinse the surface thoroughly after washing and dry with a soft cloth. Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film or cause streaks.
  • Silestone countertops have built-in Microban protection, so Silestone countertops are easy to clean and the growth of bacteria and microorganisms is minimized between cleanings.
  • Silestone countertops do not need to be sealed.
  • Avoid using paint strippers or oven cleaner on Silestone.

Sinks

Silestone Quartz Surfaces

  • Sink styles that can be used with Silestone countertops include under-mount, top-mount and flush-mount stainless steel sinks, cast iron sinks, apron-style sinks, and vessel sinks.
  • Integrated sinks where the sink and countertop are one piece are not possible with Silestone.
